Tivoli, Lazio
This trip was planned very loosely around two months before departure, we had no idea how it would turn out other than being a fun adventure to share between the two of us.
None of us had ever heard about this little town called Tivoli, located about 50 mins outside of Rome.
The only time we had ever spoken about "Tivoli" was in the context of "Tivoli, as the adventure park in Denmark", so to say that people were a little bit confused at first when we mentioned Tivoli as a summer holiday is an understatement.
When we landed in Rome we took the train to Tivoli as it was the cheapest and best option, about 11 euro per person. The train ride took us about 1h 50 min because there were a lot of stops before our destination, but we didn't mind. The view looking out of a train in Italy is not that bad after all.. :)
The town is located on top of a hill/mountain (depending on how tall you are hehe) and because it is so small we walked from the train station to our hotel in around 10 minutes.
People looked a bit confused seeing us with our big bags of luggage heading towards the city, and we later found out that not many people actually stayed in Tivoli, they only passed by during the day or as a 1 day get away from busy Rome.
The food, the people, the atmosphere and the feeling of actually being in Italy made this trip 10/10, and we already miss it.
I could go on and on about this trip, it was truly the best on yet... I have about 700 pictures and I am NOT about to waste them, so enjoy a selection of my favorites down below!
